Ireland
Galway Bay
But now they drift on the still water,
Mysterious, beautiful;
Among what rushes will they build,
By what lakes edge or pool,
Delight men's eyes when I awake some day...
To find they have flown away?
W.B. Yeats 1865-1939

Above: Galway is famous for it's large population of swans.
Below: My friend works in a local café, so she gives me lots of leftover bread to feed to the swans!
Above: The Spanish Arch borders Galway Bay, and appears to have been an extension of Galway's old city walls.
However, during the visits of Cromwell in 1652 and William of Orange in 1691, most of the city walls were destroyed.
Above: A Galway Hooker sets sail (I will let that get lost in translation)!
Above: The Galway Bay Lighthouse still functions today.
