The Netherlands
Amsterdam

Amsterdam is known as Europe's "Magic Centre," the heart of a Utopian dream where people believe
anything can happen (and often does)! Amsterdam is perfect for travellers, with enough sensory
delights to keep even the shortest attention spans occupied: take your pick from handsome 17th-century
architecture, canals, galleries, museums, and the notorious sleaze of the Red Light district. This is just a
sampling of what makes this city so addictive...
Above: Tourists can take in some of Europe's most beautiful architecture by getting lost among the
concentric canals of Amsterdam's old town. These lush 17th-century homes occupy the western canals
of the city.
Above: The Koninklijk Paleis, or Royal Palace, was originally built as the city hall in the mid-seventeenth
century. The palace can be found in the center of the city next to the Niewe Kerk, a fifteenth century
church.

paintings and 500 drawings by the artist and his contemporaries, including Gaugin, Toulouse-Lautrec,
and Monet.
